Never Fear, Rats Are Here (A posting for rat lovers)
Blog Post by Laurel Anne Hill - Nov.28.2011 - 9:31 am
For several years, an organization called APOPO has used HeroRATs (trained giant African pouched rats) to detect land mines in Africa. Now they're also training HeroRATs to detect human cases of tuberculosis.
For a whimsical "rat's point of view" of the training process, go to the "It Began in Africa" site: http://www.itbeganinafrica.com/inspiring-people/tanzania-land-mines-tuberculosis-%E2%80%93-never-fear-rats-are-here.
Enjoy!
