Attention Writers and Kids: Laurel Anne Hill at the San Mateo County Fair

Free writing workshops!  A free craft activity for kids!

Look for Laurel Anne Hill at the San Mateo County Fair on June 9, 11 and 16.  The following programs are scheduled for the Literary Arts/Fine Arts Galleria Stage in Expo Hall:

 

WRITING FIGHT & BATTLE SCENES: SATURDAY JUNE 9 FROM 2-3 PM

Laurel Anne Hill is an award-winning author and former underground storage tank operator. She will present a workshop about writing fight and battle scenes that are realistic within the context of your story worlds. Laurel has conducted many writing workshops for children and adults and has been a regular presenter at science fiction and fantasy conventions internationally. KIDS! CREATE YOUR OWN SPACE ALIEN: MONDAY JUNE 11 FROM 4-5 PM

This arts-and-craft workshop is for grade-school kids and the young at heart. Laurel Anne Hill, an award-winning author of science fiction, fantasy and horror, will tell workshop participants about the temperature, gravity and terrain on a make-believe planet. Participants can then use the provided supplies to design creatures that might live on such a planet. Note: On Monday, June 11, ages 12 and under will be admitted free to the fair. AUTHOR DAY SIGNING & EVENTS: SATURDAY JUNE 16 FROM 1-5 PM

KOMENAR Publishing released Heroes Arise, Laurel Anne Hill's award-winning novel, in 2007. Her shorter works of fiction and nonfiction have appeared in a variety of publications, including "The Vengeance Garden" (in Spells and Swashbucklers), "Wings of Revenge" (in The Wickeds), "Grip of Chaos" (in A Bard's Eye View), "The Grave of Mario Bandini" (in Fault Zone), and "Thar Be Magic" (In Rum and Runestones). Laurel will coordinate the speculative fiction open mike (1-2 pm), participate in the Author Day Book Signing (2-4 pm) and serve on a panel about podcasting and book trailers (4-5 pm).
