I'm happy. My novel, Dusty Waters: A Ghost Story has been receiving good reviews from readers at Goodreads.com where I have held two giveaways since its release June 2009. The most recent review was especially touching, so I thought I'd share it with you.
Amanda from Toronto, Ontario, Canada gave the nove 4 stars (out of 5) and she wrote:
"I loved this book! I was going into it expecting something really supernatural, focused on spirits/ghosts. Instead, I read a beautiful story about living life. Dusty's ability to see ghosts is just a part of her, like being tall, or having curly hair. Dusty's voice carried me along on a gentle pace through the story of her life. I laughed. I cried, and I put the book down feeling better for havingg read it. I can't wait to pick it back up and read it again!"
Amanda's enthusiasm for my novel is every writers dream, right? She opened my book expecting one thing, but found something completely unexpected...a beautiful story. I did my job. I know that it isn't a review by anyone well-known, but it is from a reader, which is important to me. It's tough for an independently published author with a limited marketing budget to get the word out, but Dusty Waters is getting into the hands of readers. I might be still "in the red" with my publishing adventure, but I'm being read one book at a time...to me that's priceless. I know that this is such a small potatoes sort of thing in the overall publishing big picture, but I'm doing a happy dance on my little acre in the world...
Happy New Year!
