A couple of months ago, I stumbled across a link to the Dear Author website, courtesy of one of the yahoo groups I'm in.
Intrigued by the First Page critique section I found, I contacted Jane Litte, and asked if I could participate. She said yes and to send the first page of something I was working. I would then be contacted later if/when it was posted.
To be honest, I forget I had sent it, until I received an email on Sept. 3, letting me know that it had been posted. I didn't get to check it until today and was pleasantly surprised at the response. I appreciate all the suggestions and will be applying them.
If you (unpublished or published) want to send in your first page and see what others might suggest, you can give it a try. Please email Jane at litte (dot) jane (at) gmail (dot) com [replace the words in parentheses with the correct punctuation) and put in the subject line, "First Page Critique."
I looked at this opportunity as a great way to improve my skills. I don't know any of the commenters; they don't know me and the opinions and suggestions are honestly given.
To read the critique of my "Untitled" submission, just VISIT HERE. And, if you're interested, you can leave your suggestions too.
