It’s the perpetual call of the beautiful weather we have here in L.A. that blinds us from the consequences of giving into it. Days spent tanning on white-sand beaches or by sparkling water-filled swimming pools melt the mind and dull the senses. Of course we can take our laptops with us to write, but do we? Not always, I’ll wager. I’ve made an effort to avoid these two locations when intent upon writing. From an outside table at my local indie coffee shop, I can still bask in the warmth while watching the wild life hoping from branch to branch in the trees or strolling sidewalks in shorts and tees. Instead of sunburn, I get to go home with one or two draft chapters of my novel or a short story. A win win in my book.
