Although I write every day, working on a novel, short story or essay, there are times I need a large space of time away from these daily tasks. Flush out my mind and reset my senses in a place that will allow me to anticipate the stories to come, I head for the South for the next week. Charleston, Savannah and Jekyll Island, I hope to soak up impressions of Lillian Hellman and Tennessee Williams South, learn more about the Intriguing Gullah-Gechee culture, and lurk in the cemetery of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. All of this new input will churn in my emptied mind and spit out bits and pieces of stories to come. Stay tuned.
