This is a meme from S. Krishna's Books, called 7 Random Bookish Things. She did a general "tag" and so will I. So, all Red Room compadres, and heck, anyone else, go for it! (This means I'm breaking the last rule about tagging seven people, but I hate to impose...and I wasn't specifically tagged, anyway!)
The rules are:
Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
Share seven random and/or weird book facts about yourself.
Tag seven random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
So, my seven random bookish things.
1) We lived for two years with our books in boxes, having moved twice and not having any bookshelves available. When we finally installed some built-ins last year and our books came out into the light again, the sight gave me -- and continues to give me -- unreasonable joy.
2) I'll read any genre. I'll read any book that someone tells me is good. That means I've got paperback romances on my shelves along with National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize winners. And that's just the way I like it. Also, it's really fun to read this way.
3) I can read and walk at the same time without tripping. I used to do this in my youth all the time. Now it might be trickier with small children and a dog in the house as well...
4) I have to restrain myself in libraries, because the books are FREE and I don't have that budget restriction, which often means I end up sending a book back unread because I just haven't gotten to it and I feel too guilty hanging onto it. In this way I have checked out, but not read, THE BRIEF WONDROUS LIFE OF OSCAR WAO. Still want to read that one.
5) I'm a seasonal temp in my local indie bookstore. Just about ready to start up for the holidays. Being a bookseller lends an interesting perspective to my life as an author.
6) Some of my favorite books to re-read: THE GREAT GATBSBY, MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL, BREATHING LESSONS, NOTES ON A SCANDAL, WAITING TO EXHALE
7) I almost never put a book down without finishing it, even if I hate it. I'll at least skim-read to see if it remains as terrible as I suspected. (And yes, the answer is always yes.)
If you do this, link to it in the comments so I know!
