For the last (doesn't matter how long), I've been writing and writing and writing people, asking them if they would be willing to review Homefront (which, for the record, I have - in my head - retitled Hello, Goodbye). When a book is self-published, asking for reviews can be tricky if you want a legitimate, REAL-book review site to do a write-up, because most REAL-book reviewers are, as we all are, too aware of the stigma attached to self-published work, and they don't want to waste their time.
I had to give them one hell of a pitch.
There are also a number of websites that focus on self-published work (the PODler and the Self-Publishing Review are two of my favorite), and then there are regular bloggers who love to read and who have built their blog readership by supplying well-thought reviews (for example, Age 30+...A Lifetime of Books).
Every review Homefront has been given, I've made a pitch for. Until today! The executive producer of Navy Wife Radio contacted me (she contacted me) through MySpace and asked if she could do a review of my book.
Yes. Yes she can.
(I insist on being excited by the little things, because this whole process has been filled with a high: low ratio that looks like this: 2:8.)
