I am seriously considering what the difference is between women who get ahead and those who somehow never get to where they want to be. Success of course is subjective; an art teacher is someone who is just as successful as an artist, the actor on Broadway is a success the same as the Hollywood actor. As long as both are happy and fulfilled with what they are doing, their lives are successful..
Looking at women who are well-known, whom we see as successful, there does seem to be one common denominator: many of them had what is called a healthy selfishness. They put themselves, their dreams and their goals first. Their lives and their achievements became top priority over everything and everyone else.
As the incomparable Katharine Hepburn stated: "You cannot have it 'all'. Family and career will never have your equal time; it is one or the other."
Having her own great success, maybe she has a point. What do you think?
