'The Kite Runner' to get graphic novel treatment

Press Coverage

The Kite Runner, the beloved novel that brought the world a better understanding of Afghan culture in the wake of 9-11, is getting the graphic novel treatment. Turns out, Khaled Hosseini, the novel's celebrated author, is a longtime fan of the genre. He tells USA TODAY: "I would rank Maus, A Survivor's Tale, Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis series, and the works of Alan Moore and Garth Ennis as some of my favorite all time reads. The idea of seeing The Kite Runner turned into a graphic novel held great appeal to me purely as a fan of the medium. I think the graphic novel will appeal to existing fans of the novel, to fans of graphic novels, as well as young readers." Riverhead will publish the graphic novel in September. The 2003 novel spent 248 weeks on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list.
