Sorry for being absent for a while. Once you fall off the blogging train, you have to wait for the next express to roll through town to pick you up again…
Okay, here’s a hodge podge of news and events. First off, I’m melting. No, I’m not the Wicked Witch (although that might be an intriguing job title), but the Seattle area is going through a record heat wave, hitting 100 degrees. Our trees are not happy! (I’m not happy!)
I recently completed a commercial art commission, creating a map for Louise Marley for the upcoming re-issue of her Nevya trilogy in a new omnibus edition, from Fairwood Press. Once the book is closer to release I’ll post the map up in my picture gallery along with a link to the book. It was a bit of a tricky map, since it’s an ice planet, with no vegetation other than trees, no roads, no rivers, no lakes, no fields… It made coming up with variety somewhat challenging. But I think it looks fairly decent, in the end.
The outline for my next book is somewhat stalled at the moment as I re-group and re-think the direction I want the book to take. I’m feeling some need to move the whole thing up a level from my existing work, although I’m still mulling over the best way to do that. I’m off to Hawaii in a few weeks for a vacation, and I plan to do some serious story thinking while doing the whole “relaxing” thing.
Of course, there’s been new pictures, and I’ve been somewhat remiss in not posting up the links for those. So here’s three of ‘em! The links all point to the same page, the Fantasy gallery on my website.
