Civil War buffs abound and this book is a must for them. It will also be found interesting to people who are interested in character studies and to quite another group--those interested in the life and times of our country in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The excellence with which the author has dealt with these latter areas is emphasized in the foreword by Eugene McCarthy--a rebel in his own right! Siepel's book is a good one. The book is thoroughly indexed and the reference work done by the author was prodigious. The style is clear and straightforward. The reviewer is not at all ashamed to say that the author's final words on Mosby's death brought tears to his eyes.
