Kevin H Siepel writes on personal, historical, and scientific themes. His benchmark biography of Confederate hero John Singleton Mosby has proven durable, as have a number of his essays and poems. He has been published in the Christian Science Monitor, Readers Digest, Foreign Service Journal, and Virginia Cavalcade, as well as in Civil War, Wild West, Western New York Heritage, and Notre Dame University magazines, and at http://www.wordworth.com. One of his essays, translated widely by Readers Digest, is included in a Monitor anthology and a Chicken Soup for the Soul collection.
In addition to Rebel, his biography of John Singleton Mosby, he has published a regional history of western New York state based on the journal of an early settler. In the background he runs PlainSpeak, a web-based technical document editorial and Spanish translation service. He is currently writing a book on the Spanish Conquest of the Americas.
Siepel, a biologist by training, has taught undergraduate biology and environmental science, and currently teaches Spanish. He is competent in French, German, and Italian. Hobbies: piano, guitar, languages, and do-it-yourself construction.
