Description:

Wade Middleton is pleased when his boss, a Silicon Valley CEO, asks him to work with him on sales, telling him he’s good with people. But Wade doesn’t see himself that way. He’s especially vexed by the attractive horsewoman who’s just moved to Palo Alto from Texas, Diana Buchanan. Diana shows Wade the exhilaration of horses and riding to hounds. But when Wade, a poet, takes Diana to a reading, she walks out because someone reads a poem about an intimate encounter with a Teddy Bear. And as much as Wade loves the spectacle and camaraderie of foxhunting, when the hounds eviscerate a wild boar he, too, canters away.
Wade is disheartened when his boss, despite Wade’s protest, fires Wade’s close friend, Jorge Calderon. Wade introduces Jorge to one of Diana’s powerful friends, who gives Jorge a lucrative job. Diana doesn’t like Jorge nor his beguiling wife, and Wade and Diana stop dating.
When Jorge’s thankful wife knocks on Wade’s door at midnight, Wade gives in, but the delight of their tryst is short-lived. When she returns home, Jorge tussles with his wife. She dies, and Jorge attempts suicide.
Wade realizes he’s nowhere close to good with people. He must change, but, in the ensuing chaos, how?
