Last month I flew to Chicago to witness the wedding of my friend Paula Givan, with whom I used to work. After a career at IBM, Paula spent eight or ten years in Rome, Italy, managing the worldwide publications for an Italian software company. She lived a couple of blocks from the Spanish Steps, where I was lucky enough to visit her three or four times.
She and her Psychiatrist fiancé, now husband, live in a retirement community in Hyde Park, near the University of Chicago, her alma mater. I flew back for their wedding. They were married in a hundred-year-old Synagogue across from the home of Barak Obama. The President was there earlier that day and created many questions as to whether or not the wedding would go off on time.
APM took an interest in Paula because of their ages—the groom is ninety years old. The interview is half an hour in length, but Paula and her new husband Nate keep it moving along. Here’s the link: http://www.thestory.org/
