When I realized that, at about the same time I’d be out in New Haven for Scotty’s play, Terrence Hawkins was organizing an intensive ten-day Writing Conference on the campus at Yale, I studied what he was up to.
When I found the faculty included Tom Perrotta, Julia Glass, Richard Selzer, Kate Walbert, John Crowley, Marc Fitten, Kirsten Bakis, Nathaniel Rich, Sybil Baker, MG Lord, Eileen Pollack, and Marc Lapadula, I looked over the opening of White Man’s Blues, the in-process novel I’ve been working on with my writing groups. Might they possibly be interested in working with me on it? I polished it up and sent it off to Marc Fitten two weeks ago.
What a pleasant surprise this morning when they invited me to join them. It’ll be great to be out there in all the conference’s energy and get to see Scotty’s play as well. I’ll be I’ll be in New Haven for the middle of June, with Scotty’s play in the center of my visit on June 17th.
