Location, location, location. The anticipated ad for A Genie in the House of Saud: Zubis Rises has been buried on the next to last page of the Book Review, despite a request for it to run on a right-hand page. What's a poor shilling author to do? Complain, complain, complain. Today, I have to say... the NYT stinks! Yet, hope springs eternal. Perhaps, like the venerable djinni, hidden in the mists, the ad will reveal itself to all readers. They will find themselves turning each page, as though in a trance, swatting at the images of other books like flies (hold it, this scene has already been done, and better, in A Field of Dreams.) Anyway, the ad is in, and that in itself is exciting. You'll find it in the back, page 30, on the left, above the lamp (hey, is it a magic lamp ... that would be helpful!).
