Kayla Cagan has worked as a writer, theater artist, and arts administrator regionally and in New York City. Her work has been seen with Three Graces Theater Company, and at the following theaters: Mabou Mines, Soho Rep, The Actors Studio, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center, The Berkshire Theater Festival, The KGB Red Room, The Tribeca Performing Arts Center, The Samuel French Festival, Manhattan Theater Club, and the Freemont Center Theatre. Her play, Blue in the Face, was an Actor's Theater of Louisville Heiddemann Award Finalist. Her plays are published in the following Smith and Kraus anthologies: Blue in the Face, The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2006 2 Actors; Halasana, The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2005 2 Actors; and Shot Americans, The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2005 3 or More Actors. Roller Coaster was published by the Many Mountains Moving Literary Journal in November, 2008. Her play, Jeanne Hebuterne Speaks (a monologue), was produced in Spring 2010 as part of a collection called Exhibition, in New York City. Kayla is a proud member of The Dramatist’s Guild, as well as LMDA, the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas. Kayla was also the head writer on the Print-Magazine award-winning Impact Teen Drivers project. Her contribution to the anthology, Dirt: Writers on the Quirks, Habits and Passions of Keeping House was published by Seal Press in 2009.
This year, she dramaturged the South of Delancey at the Freemont Center Theatre in Pasadena, CA.
