Katie Burke is a writing consultant, writer, editor, and formerly practicing family law attorney, who lives in San Francisco. She has been published by HarperCollins, the Journal of Law and Social Challenges, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Fairfield Citizen-News, SoMa Literary Review, examiner.com, Women's Voices, The Sitting Room, The Compass, Culture-Voice, and the Street Spirit. She has read her writing on KQED Radio’s Perspectives and at Litquake.

Katie has an author page at the Red Room, and she occasionally writes at Oh, Africa!, her blog about her teaching trips to Africa, of which she has taken three since 2009, to teach personal story writing. Katie has taught creative nonfiction writing at City College of San Francisco, and she facilitates writing classes and mentors writers through First Person, her writing consulting business. From March 2011 through March 2012, Katie currently works at Google’s Mountain View campus, fulfilling a full-time writing, editorial, and tech reporting contract.

Prior to earning her J.D. at the University of San Francisco School of Law, Katie earned a Master of Counseling degree through Arizona State University’s School of Education, and a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut.
