When I finally met my true love and decided to marry, we were older than your average couple.
Like most women, I had a clear picture in my mind of what our wedding would look like. Unfortunately, our
budget, or lack thereof, did not come close to matching my vision.
I plotted, planned and schemed about how to pull off the wedding of my dreams. I wrote it all down,
expense by expense. I created the experience visually in my mind, from the fabulous dress to the beautiful
ceremony and huge party surrounded by friends.
The week finally arrived and friends flew in from all over the U.S. Many helped me complete final projects during the week before and filled the void of the unbudgeted wedding planner. I still remember with huge gratitude how my girlfriends flew in and took turns keeping me focused on the list of tasks and pitching in wholeheartedly to complete the final details. Each took one or two-day shifts before they passed off the task list to the next person and then shuffled off for a mini-vacation before returning for the wedding. It definitely didn’t hurt that we were living in Florida at the time!
I will always look back on that magical week surrounded by friends who were there in all ways to help me pull off the wedding of my dreams. I could not have done it without them!
