Last week I chanced upon Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, a moving short novel about two young men in the years they are sent to the country for re-education in Mao's Cultural Revolution. I was touched by the intimate look at the human impact of the Cultural Revolution.
