Reading Anything Good?
For weddings, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, or just because.

Okay book lovers, what have you read recently that you just loved? Anything? Tell me.

I'll start. Last week I chanced upon Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, a moving short novel about two young men in the years they are sent to the country for re-education in Mao's Cultural Revolution.  I was touched by the intimate look at the human impact of the Cultural Revolution.

I just finished House of Dolls by Franceca Lia Block...

...beautiful small book, but has so many large ideas. I'm always amazed by Block's writing.

I'm also listening to The Brightest Star In The Sky by Marian Keyes. It took me a while to get into it because her sister reads it, and boy, she has a thick Irish accent! But it's also comforting when I'm about to go to sleep.
