Diamonds on white
Dazzling, gleaming
Fresh falling snow

In the City

Multiple paned eyes
House fly-esque
Seeing more than I wish to see
Sadness, abuse, and violence
Surrounds innocence
Homeless man
Missing one limb
I wish sometimes
Like you
I did not see him
Dark, tortured eyes
Though in youth her years
How easily they ignore her tears
Give me butterfly wings
And I’ll climb and climb
Until...

Letting Go
Cling to it, Self respect, the only measure
Un-True to yourself
Desperately clawing at what ifs
To somedays in blood red pools
Lost in dreams filled with monsters
Promises of one Without merit
Whose life is based On lies
Hidden agenda A hot air balloon
Whose heat has evaporated
Leaving you with the
Heaviness of the outer shell
Red balloons...

Two Father’s
Stunned into silence Tazored by circumstance As I dared think one death Different from another The man of my life, I Only a pigtailed Innocent Curious dark-eyed Straining expectantly Waiting for him to see me Waxen faced memories As he slept on satin white pillow His breathing stopped Although my eyes played tricks Sentry like I waited for the...

Imagine a day
Where I did everything
Right
Imagine a day
Where you were
Happy
Imagine the past
Changed
Imagine the heart
Intact
Imagine the eyes
Dry
Imagine my lips
Smiling
Imagine my mistakes
Not made
Imagine a lifetime
Lived

Fresh faced son of mine
Gleaming black hair
Future bound hope filled
Your skin taut
Eyes green and curious
A new day awaits you
My hope is in you
Your brothers too
As they wake up and live
I remember how slow
The clock moves
How time seems to stand still
For you for youth
Nothing more than mirage
Because the world spins
So fast...

Depression
It was over before I could catch my breath We both said things we didn't mean Angry bitter words Pain filled and black When I heard you say goodbye I expected to turn and see you standing there Expected you to hesitate Like times past when we fought And you said you would leave I cling to the rail where I dropped As the door closed behind you My...

A New Season
By
Kateryne
The trees are filled
Spring with celery and basil
Leaves filling what was
Bare only a week before
Flowers of amethyst and baby
Pink painted on covering
Each little arm
Reaching out and crying
To be adorned
Tiny little bunnies
Scatter like mice
Or moles
Running for their lives
Past black circles
Rushing in their...
