I was surprised to read my previous blog. I haven't posted since that time and so much has happened. The first and most important thing was my mother died in February of last year.
It wasn't at all how I anticipated her passing. Does it every go as we expect?
I moved to Clearwater, Florida September 2012. It was wonderful! Warm, beautiful, close to the beach and I loved it. I got a job working for an insurance company within weeks of searching. Then my sisters house caught fire and my mother needed a place to live. I was thrilled when she agreed to come live with me. It was something I had wanted for a long time. I wanted to be able to share the good things in my life with her. I wanted her to be able to spend her small social security check on things for herself, not paying bills.
the day she arrived was fantastic. It was a warm sunny day. She had never flown before and was thrilled with her flight. She told me she would never be afraid to fly again. The stewardesses were great to her and she enjoyed her window view. I was so happy to see her this way. We took her immediately to the beach for her to see the Gulf. She was unable to walk so I pushed her wheelchair down the ramp and into the sand where she was able to reach down and pick up her own seashells and sand. It was really difficult to push that chair in the sand but I was determined.
She was in the hospital 4 days later where the doctor said she should be put into hospice. Her condition, her heart, was struggling to keep up and the result was that this was the 7th admission that year.
