GIVING IS GRATITUDE

I’m in the middle of a book tour for my new novel, Jaclyn the Ripper, and I’m very happy with the response.  Fans, old and new, are coming out to hear me talk about “Jaclyn” and read.  Actually, I’m humbled.  Signing the books they buy is a way of saying, “Thank you,” but I don’t think it’s enough. 

Like all things good and cosmic, gratitude is circular in nature.  If you follow a philosophical curve that hadn’t occurred to you before—if you follow it completely—it will lead you back to where you started, but you will be the wiser for it.  Along the journey, you will have made discoveries about the world and yourself.   Hopefully, that is another way of saying “one must give as well as receive.”  Therefore, at all my signings, I make it a point to give away copies of my first editions that are out of print.  Signed, of course. 

I hope you see you at a bookstore soon.  And thanks again.
