Crafting a story is much like writing a song. Selecting this adjective or that verb and deciding how to order the plot or the lines for just the right impact are part of a process, much like choosing musical notes and lyrics to bring an idea to life. I have written songs and I have written stories. Both are wonderful, infuriating, marvelous, challenging, intense, and deeply satisfying experiences. Anyone who writes will understand what I mean. The angst and the joy inherent in the creative process is the compelling divergence that keeps writers addicted to their craft.”
