I have been toying with this cookbook idea.  I want to make a collection of really awful recipes.  So, dear readers … what is the recipe you have seen or tried that would have been better if it not existed?  Here is my all time favorite.  I found it in an employee fundraiser cookbook that belongs to my mother.  The book is circa 1975 and is filled with recipes from the women who worked with my mother at East Hills mall in Saint Joseph, Missouri.  I have never actually tried it because I cannot bring myself to.  It’s just too awful on the page let alone in a large serving bowl.   

Beanie Weenie Salad

2 cans of Beanie Weenies

1 cup of mayonnaise

½ cup of pickle relish

½ cup of chopped onions

2 hard-boiled eggs.

In large serving bowl combine Beanie Weenies, mayonnaise, pickle relish and chopped onions.  Mix together.  Slice hard-boiled eggs and place on top.  Serve chilled.

Okay, I may vomit just thinking about this.  I guess this would be good if you are in dire need of Ipecac.  And serve chilled?  Oh, God.  And sliced eggs.  Wow!  It’s just so much nastiness.  What occasion do you serve this?  Funerals maybe?  I thought the idea was to relieve grief not cause it.
