I was originally a translator (French, German and Italian). I then started a catering business and began to give cookery classes. This led to writing seven published cookbooks and articles in national papers. In 2007 I wrote my first novel, The Camel Trail, which is based on the true story of my great grandfather. Orphaned as a boy he went on to be a successful man with a terrible secret. Although the book is not well known it won an award for Best Food Literature Book in the UK. This is because each chapter opens with an old recipe and there is a food theme to the book. My latest book is for children: Lookit Cookit - kitchen games for curious children. It's an exploration of food through games, experiments and quizzes.
