I, too, believe that luck happens when preparation meets opportunity, but I'd add a touch of tenacity to the equation. After my novel, HUSBANDS MAY COME AND GO BUT FRIENDS ARE FOREVER, was released last September, I vowed to do something every day to promote it. I've kept a calendar of every action I've taken since then -- pages and pages of entries like "joined Red Room", "created fan page on Facebook," etc. On December 8th of last year, the entry reads "joined pr.com and sent free press release." That release has landed me an offer to option the screen rights to my novel. Call it luck if you like, but it doesn't hurt to have some "sticktuitivness" as Aunt Vi used to say.
