2 I understand you spent a lot of time with the Metro Nashville Police Department, learning all you could about forensics, crime in general. Tell me about that experience.
I have been very lucky with my research. MNPD welcomed me with open arms, allowed me to ride-along on several shifts with both homicide and patrol, and is still my number one resource. I've been to crack houses, interviewed prostitutes, attended a consultation at the Medical Examiner's office on a skull found buried in a field, seen a stabbing victim die at my feet, had a suspect in the back seat being transported to booking... I got a first-and glimpse into the real world of cops, and it was humbling and inspiring. I hope it lends authenticity to my work - my number one goal is to be a real as possible.
