Patry Francis is an artist. Not just a writer; she’s one of those soulful beings we all want to be. She has an indefinable spirit and essence, the dynamics of which builds into the enviable psyche of a true poet. Without a doubt, her images will haunt you. But most importantly, she’s able to translate the evocative world she sees into words so we can take the journey with her. You should read her story in the Killer Year Anthology, "The Only Word I Know in Spanish." It's incredible, and a true showcase of this woman's talents. When I read it the first time, I was moved to tears.
To celebrate the launch day of Patry’s paperback, THE LIAR’S DIARY, I looked to her ultra-successful blog, SIMPLY WAIT, and went all the way back to her beginnings there. In her very first post, on how she was going to name the blog, she has this poem:
THE SECOND POEM THE NIGHT-WALKER WROTE
Over the hilltops,
Silence,
Among all the treetops
You feel hardly
A breath moving.
The birds fall silent in the woods.
Simply wait! Soon
you too will be silent.
Goethe
I found it eerie, and fitting, and so damn gorgeous. Just like Patry. She always finds the silence, and she knows how to share it with all of us.
So today, take a few minutes and get to know this amazing artist. Listen to an excerpt. Watch the trailer. Drop by Patry's website, delve into the archives in her blog, and don’t forget to buy the book.
