I saw Octavio Solis's play Se Llama Cristina at a special performance at Laney College this afternoon. What a gift this series at Laney, Octavio, Director Loretta Greco, and the actors are! There was a Q&A after the performance with Octavio and the actors in which the audience of community members and Fusion Theatre (Laney's dynamic and accomplished student acting company directed by Michael Torres) members dug deeply into response, themes, inspiration, acting, Shakespeare, language, film and more. The acting and the discussion inspired me in my character development through the actors’ discussion of their process of building and inhabiting authentic characters. Go see Se Llama Cristina at Magic Theatre - it's being presented now! This is one play that I would see again and that very rarely happens for me.
