Rags, Lee, Jaycob, and Miss ‘D’ spent the night above the city in the mountains. They talked into the wee hours of the morning. They viewed the 3-D hologram from Lee’s ‘Memory Maker’ and were amazed that it contained nearly four hours of Pegasus (Emma) talking to them as they sat and asked her questions.
They had talked about the adventure for about an hour before they watched the hologram and everyone’s story seemed to match. It had been a very short visit and no one had time to ask very many questions, and before too long, Emma told them of the golden bells and then disappeared.
None of them seemed to remember this longer part of the visit with the fabled winged horse, but as the video played, their memory seemed to expand and they remembered this longer version.
Near the end of the hologram, Emma stated that they would remember more of their time together when time (as they knew it) moved along. “You are caught up in this fiction and reality is different from how you perceive it,” she stated near the end, “Even now, you will only remember a small fraction of this time, till you review the hologram you are capturing. Then your minds will remember more. But even this primitive machine can only capture what has transpired at this time, in this place. I leave you now, in Love and peace, but before I go, I wish to leave you all a token of our friendship.”
She nodded behind them. Before anyone could say anything, she went on, “Behind you are four bells. They are yours to keep. If you ever wish to visit me, or need my assistance, please ring them. They are special bells that emit a sound only I can hear.”
Lee Turned off the Memory Maker and the hologram disappeared. It was a few minutes before anyone spoke. Then, Miss ‘D’ let out a small whistle, “WOW! What can I say? Just when you thought, ‘What an adventure,’ it gets better. I could have sworn a few hours ago that we only spent a few minutes with Emma.”
“I agree,” Lee said as he pocketed the Memory Maker, “We actually spent at least 4 hours with her.”
“And that is just what was recorded,” said Rags. “I remember it all now, but there is still some of it, like an old memory, just on the edge of my being able to pull up. Sort of like a dream.”
“I remember that there is a lot more than we can remember now. She not only explained the difference between reality and fiction, but actually took us through the ‘Between’ to other places and times,” remarked Jaycob. “It feels like we spent, days, months, and even years, together.”
Throughout the night, they awoke many memories of their time with Emma. Sometimes, recalling stories of places and events in extraordinary detail. It was astounding to think of how long they had actually spent with Emma, in just a few minutes of their time.
Finally, near dawn, when the first moon was setting, they decided to sleep. But they made a pact to never reveal their encounter with Pegasus. They understood that this was a sacred place for her, and no one wanted her special place to become a tourist attraction.
They stayed in the mountains northwest of Markab for a few more days, before returning. They spent the days and nights enjoying the stories that continued to float out in conversations. They could have stayed there for weeks remembering everything that happened, but their vacation time was near an end and reluctantly, they had to return to the ship.
Upon entering “Amanda’s Outfitters” they saw Amanda, her husband, Mitch and Jaycob’s brother, Noah inside the return area. They chatted a while about the beautiful mountains and the wonderful trip they had, while turning in all the equipment they had rented. As they were leaving, Mitch and Amanda told them goodbye and Mitch bent forward and whispered, “We will let Emma know that you had a wonderful time.” And he winked.
