Emeryville, CA
Jan 2009

Joseph Armstead is a suspense-thriller author and computer technologist.  He has authored ten novels and over two dozen short stories.  He has been published in several magazines and online journals.  Mr. Armstead's novels generally center on the themes of personal and societal alienation, xenophobia and interspecies racism, dark conspiracies, criminal violence and renegade scientific technologies.

And he writes poetry because there are some things that cannot be quantified within the framework of a plot-driven narrative.  He writes poetry because he loves words, language and imagery.

He was born in Peru, Indiana, United States, but spent much of his formative years in Europe, principally southern Italy, as a dependent of a father in the U.S. Air Force and he eventually spent his adolescence in New Hampshire. He currently lives in northern California and is a computer technologist.   Mr. Armstead is also a member of the American Mathematical Society and the World Futurist Society.
