John has been around broadcasting and journalism for over 20 years - from writing for his high school yearbook to directing the entire news operation for a major market radio station in Durham, NC. He has written for numerous newspapers over his career, and works primarily now in the magazine arena.
When he is not trying finish up his Bachelor of Science degree in middle school education, he is working on two novels - one, a young adult historical fiction piece, and the other, a stylistic thriller set on a remote Alaskan island. An avid photographer, John also finds time to use his camera to compliment his written works. He also spent two years as a news photojournalist for KHQ-TV Channel 6 in Spokane, WA. John, while working at WAGA-TV in Atlanta, was awarded a regional Emmy in 2002 for Best Local Newscast.
Since moving back home to North Carolina, John has joined the Triangle Area Freelancers, led by writing veteran Donald Vaughan (http://www.donaldvaughan.com). John lives in Willow Spring, NC with his wife Cinnamon, stepson Dillon, stepdaughter Katherine Skye, two dogs (Shadow and Hermione), two cats (Bailiff and Comet) and two snakes (Cocoa Pop and Legolas).
