John Shirley is the author of numerous novels and books of stories, including the novels Cellars, Demons, Wetbones, City Come A-Walkin' , Eclipse, A Splendid Chaos, the collection Black Butterflies (which won the Bram Stoker award and which was chosen by PW as one of the best books of that year), and the collection Really Really Really Really Weird Stories from Nightshade. His new story collection is Living Shadows from Prime Books. He has had stories in two Year's Best collections, and his novels City Come A Walkin and Eclipse are thought to be seminal in the cyberpunk movement in sf. He was co-screenwriter of the film The Crow, has written scripts for television series and cable movies. He was lead singer and songwriter for various bands including the punk band SadoNation, the post-punk band Obsession (Celluloid records) and the post-cyberpunk band The Panther Moderns. Mp3s of his musical performances are to be found through links at the fan-created website www.darkecho.com/JohnShirley and www.myspace.com/johnnyparanoid, and Mabuhay Records is bringing out the Panther Moderns album Red Star. His blog is at www.johnshirley.net. He writes lyrics for the Blue Oyster Cult too as for example their new album Curse of the Hidden Mirror. He has also written nonfiction including the book Gurdjieff: An Introduction To His Life And Ideas (Penguin/Tarcher). Del Rey books brought out his recent novels Demons (which is in development as a movie at the Weinstein company) and Crawlers. His newest novel is The Other End, its first edition coming soon from Cemetery Dance books. Babbage Press has re-released his novel A Splendid Chaos and InfraPress has re-released his novels Cellars and In Darkness Waiting. Forthcoming from John Shirley is "the lost cyberpunk novel", Black Glass (from Elder Signs) and a new urban fantasy novel, Bleak History from Simon and Schuster.
