In order to define what is the perfect breakfast, we first have to know what is required of this meal so that once encountered it’s recognised for what it is. If you don’t know what your body really needs, how can you possibly provide it except on a best guess basis? The evidence is everywhere demonstrating how well that works with 60% of the population either obese or on their way and most of the rest systemically constipated.
The best way to describe what the human organism needs why it needs it was best put by a friend of mine, Roger Snow:
Every cell in the human body requires nourishment every morning with proteins, enzymes, essential fats, vitamins and minerals – not sugars and starches.” Protein is by far the most important nutrient. So important that hunger is the first noticed mechanism that alerts us when we need more protein.
Any truck driver knows from experience that a plate of ham and eggs in the morning will keep him satisfied for up to sixteen hours but a plate of pancakes and syrup will have been digested and the energy spent within a couple of hours.
Imperfect nutrition – especially inadequate protein causes reduced elasticity in all human tissues. This reduced elasticity in veins and arteries is the primary cause of most premature degenerative health failure. As venal and arterial health declines the veins and arteries lose their expansion and contraction motions are steadily and generally unnoticeably reduced which compromises their ability to continuously flush themselves clean with each heart beat so that fats and other waste products don’t adhere to their walls eventually leading to congestion and blockages. Reducing or stopping blood flow to organs or parts of organs leads to organ failure through the reduction or elimination of this cleansing action. In this way, our organs and other tissues become the recipients of continuous supplies of debilitating toxins. Society understands these conditions as symptoms of old age. Doctors interpret these circulation breakdowns – what is in effect systemic constipation - as various diseases depending upon which area is most prominently affected. They virtually never identify the source of the problem – your diet as the culprit. So understanding that you can understand that this type of degenerative disease is not a disease at all, it’s a self inflicted injury.
Does this mean ham and eggs are the perfect breakfast? No. It is protein, but such a meal is devoid of most of the rest of the nutrients that your body needs to thrive.
Rather than beat around the bush, below is the perfect breakfast for a typical human being:
- Cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower cut into bite sized pieces
- Carrots sliced or shredded length-ways
- Celery sliced or shredded length-ways
- Radishes whole, chopped or sliced
- Hemp Hearts – five heaping tablespoons
- Lemon or lime juice
Of course there are many vegetables that can be used on a rotational basis because they each have different nutritional qualities and benefits.
This breakfast contains all the necessary proteins, enzymes, essential fats, vitamins and minerals with the single exception of vitamin B12 which only comes from red meat. We only need a tiny amount of B12 and an occasional meal including red meat or a supplement is sufficient for most people.
To lose weight, simply eat your Hemp Heart salad as described above for breakfast and in the evening have another smaller salad for supper. Nothing in between but water. On that diet you will lose one pound of body fat per day if you don’t cheat and have no excess flabby skin once you’ve reached what you consider your optimum weight. At that point you can start adding more food to the diet but having made this effort, do yourself a favour and limit or just stop eating the non-foods that made you overweight or otherwise unhealthy in the first place.
The best time to eat your Hemp Heart salad is in the morning after exercises. After a workout your body needs to replenish the reserves it just spent and to heal the tissues that have just suffered typical minor damage. The energy you get from the Hemp Hearts sets you up for about six hours, no hunger. Don’t eat Hemp Hearts after mid-day or your energy may still be so high you won’t be able to sleep until well into the early hours of the next morning.
Think of this salad as a mechanic’s toolbox. No mechanic would attempt to maintain or repair a car, truck, airplane engine or any other complex machinery with only a screw driver and an adjustable wrench. Just like the mechanic a vast assortment of “tools” are required to keep the human machine running in good order. Vegetables and fruit are your toolbox and this is a toolbox that was designed specifically for Homo Sapiens. These are the foods we evolved to eat in their natural state.
That’s why, when we eat other foods that aren’t vegetables, seeds, nuts or fruits and some occasional small portions of meat for prolonged periods, our bodies begin to malfunction.
There is no room in this salad for any sugar, salad dressing or oils of any kind. That’s because all the sugar you need is in the one fruit you put into your salad as well as in smaller quantities in the vegetables. You don’t need the salad dressing because commercially prepared salad dressing generally has sugar or other ingredients that are not food in it. You don’t need the oils because Hemp Hearts already contain all the essential oils you need in the correct quantities.
In this salad, size matters. That means you aren’t juicing the food or running it through a blender – even if you have no teeth.
Our teeth are our first phase of the digestive process. They are far from perfect in terms of being able to break up the chunks of food we put into our mouths. But they do chop it up and crush it into various sizes that become small enough with sufficient chewing to be small enough to fit down our throats.
Our teeth not being able to do the job of a blender or juicer is a good thing. The irregular lumpy sizes and shapes we swallow are full of long fibres and those fibres are essential to colon health.
In the meantime, the chewing action and the flavour of the food stimulates saliva flow. Saliva carries digestive enzymes that are essential for complete and efficient digestion. The food contains enzymes as well and the combination of food-based and body-based enzymes combine with the food as we swallow it.
The salad is live food. That means the cells of the fruits, veggies and so on are alive and functioning as opposed to commercially prepared processed foods that are dead and either decomposing, on the verge of decomposing or so packed with preservatives they can’t decompose nor be digested properly. Since processed food is dead food, it has no enzymes in it to assist with our digestive activities. That being the case, it follows that our bodies have to do all the work and if all we eat is processed dead (or cooked) food our bodies become enzyme depleted.
There are enough other factors that can cause enzyme depletion including environmental stressors, such as air or electromagnetic pollution, chronic emotional stress, lack of raw foods in the diet, frequent business travel, insufficient sleep and lack of time to unwind without making things worse with avoidable dumb diet choices. These conditions either inhibit the body's ability to produce enzymes, or stress the body when normal levels of enzymes are being used up and not sufficiently replaced.
Some Important Benefits of eating Hemp Heart salads:
Lower weight, blood pressure, bad cholesterol, inflammation, chronic joint pain and flexibility, restore elasticity to veins and arteries, stabilize blood sugar, cure constipation, improve skin tone, hair, finger and toe nails, improves arthritic and diabetic conditions.
Less tangible but no less important by eating this way you can expect improved mental performance and attitude and vastly improved energy levels.
There are many more benefits that accrue that you notice as you progress. It’s important to follow an exercise regimen in order to maximize results.
We evolved two and a half million years ago. We have only been farming for twelve thousand. Machine made processed food has only existed since 1809 with the invention of bottling and later canning in 1810, pasteurized dairy products in 1862 and frozen food in 1926.
