What's a Pennsylvania German doing in a corner of Los Angeles County? Why has he stuck it out here since 1986? What charms do palm trees and clement weather hold that 10 inches of topsoil, regular rain, humidity, and snow lack? And what would possibly make him consider moving back to Pennsylvania, giving up everything that so many Englishmen fought so hard to attain after the Second World War?

Interpersonal communication through fiction, good literature, and narrative in print, and when possible the same in electronic format. My favorite radio stations are Espace-Musique (Radio-Canada's music network) and BBC Radio 4. NPR if there's no streaming audio available. Real paper newspapers. Traveling.
