Torrance, A Terrific Town for Talks

My 2012 and 2013 talks at the Torrance CA library have been very well attended, with over 100 each time. The audiences are involved and interested in the topics of the two books I discussed, Sweet and Sour, about the history of Chinese restaurants in 2012, and Chopsticks in the Land of Cotton, a history of Chinese grocers in the Missisippi Delta, in 2013.

Some lively Q & A followed each talk, which is a good sign that the presentations went well. The best part of these events is the chance to meet and talk with some of the attendees even if briefly. They often share memories and experiences that expand my understanding of the topic.
