Joanne Valin's Biography

I teach. I write. These days I am concerned with landscapes, imaginative and otherwise; with place, isolation, space and wilderness; with planes of experience. Of equal and parallel concern to me are issues of gender, politics and expression, particularly as these intersect with slippery concepts of truth and identity. My anti-war poetry is in the company of Canadian authors I very much admire in The Common Sky: Canadian Writers Against the War.

I curate Love Letters to VS Naipaul, a project created on the occasion of Naipaul's declaration that no woman writer is, has been or could be his equal. I also write at shebiteshertendermind and Stellectric.
