Joan Frank is the author of five books of fiction and one new essay collection: BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO: A WRITING LIFE. Her most recent novel, MAKE IT STAY, was called "First class fiction" by Kirkus Reviews. She is a MacDowell Colony Fellow, Pushcart Prize nominee, winner of the FOREWORD Book of the Year Award, Richard Sullivan Prize, and Dana Award; a finalist for the 2011 California Book Award and recipient of grants from the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, and Sonoma Arts Council. She has taught Creative Writing at San Francisco State University, and continues to teach in private consultation. She lives in Northern California. Visit Joan at www.joanfrank.org.
