Adapted from the cult-favorite novel, THE GILDA STORIES, "Bones & Ash: A Gilda Story" was commissioned by the Urban Bushwoman Company as a full length theatrical piece with music.  Music and lyrics are by Toshi Reagon.  The piece was performed in 13 US cities including at New York's Joyce Theatre, San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Hanscher Auditorium in Iowa City.  The script is available from Alibris on-line book sellers in the companion volume with the novel. Drawing on two chapters of the novel it follows the comming of age story of an escaped slave who discoverss the true meanings of power and family and learns to live forever.
