Enough, I say, with the holidays. It's time the world rights itself and gets back into the world of the world, the ordinary, everyday stuff that I love best. Sure, I'm all about festivities and such, but really, I like the push and pull of the ordinary day, a day of days, the chain of the regular.
I don't often tell people that because they assume I've gone off the deep end. Most people I know love a good old party and a long stretch of nothing to do. But I like something. I like the movement of things, the cogs of the wold turning, stuff happening. Stuff happening is interesting, really, if not always good. I don't like it when the mail doesn't come or the offices are closed. Yes, I understand the need for such, but I like people to get a move on, and it's hard when they all have the day off.
So on Monday the 4th, the cogs get cranked up. I suppose I can wait until then for stuff to happen. I'll give everyone a couple of days off. Fine. Relax. Sleep in. Don't write; don't call. Watch a few DVDs and we'll be in touch Monday.
