I've been lucky, and that's a word we've been writing about at Redroom. If my definition holds out, I did the hard work and the universe provided. Back around the year 2000, I answered an ad in Poets and Writer's Magazine, and the next thing I knew, I'd been hired to teach creative writing online for UCLA. Not only did they hire me, but they trained me to teach online, the very kind of teaching that has changed my life in terms of my work.
So I've been Lucky--I've made some amazing friends, taught some amazing students, and pretty much created an amazing work life.
And it's with a lot of pleasure that I'm able to read here at the Writer's Program Reading on June 9th. I'm flying down to Los Angeles for the day, and I'm excited to be able to read with my colleagues, all of us celebrating a work published within the last year.
If you are in the LA area, I'd love to see you there. Details below.
