It's been unseasonably warm for the month of May in Massachusetts. With no air conditioning and no breeze from the windows, I find it impossible to think clearly in the heat. Editing my novel or making final touches to new stories is far too daunting right now.
However, this heat is perfect for raw writing. Rough drafts are one of my favorite writing tasks, and this heat makes me go a little bit crazy. Some of my best stories have been born within these tiny bouts of insanity. Ideas simply spilling onto the page, then my fingers incessantly tapping away, trying not to let the sweat from my palms drip into the keyboard. I'll save the editing for when the weather is cooler, or when my air conditioner is repaired.
