Jeanne Powell is a published poet and essayist. Her books in print are MY OWN SILENCE and WORD DANCING (prose poems and flash fiction). She created and hosted "Celebration of the Word," an award-winning spoken word series, for ten years in San Francisco. Her "Living Treasures" publishing project highlighted the writings of four poetic elders; their books were published by Meridien PressWorks™ in 2005. She teaches at OLLI-SFSU and UB-USF.

Al Young is poet laureate emeritus of California. He is the author of many books and chapbooks, and the recipient of numerous fellowships including Stegner, Guggenheim, Fulbright and NEA. His poetry and prose have been translated into more than a dozen languages. Al Young has taught at Stanford, the University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, and other colleges and universities.
