Hidden Heroes

What is a hero? Is it someone who risks life and limb to save another person who is in a near death situation? Is it someone who rescues a family from losing their home by offering to lend money?  Or could it be someone who risks or gives their life in the time of war to help keep our country free?

I believe it's all of the above, but I also believe there is another kind of hero that we never talk about or even know about. When we think of heroes we don't often think of the person who goes without lunch to give a homeless person a meal. We dont think about the person who, after working a 60-hour week, rises up early Saturday morning to go down their local rehabilitation center to help put up drywall or take a group of seniors to the park. What about the guy who takes the neighbor's kid to the batting cages after a hard day's work, because there is no father to take him?

In my mind, these are the hidden heroes, who no one talks about. These are the heroes who never get a lot of aclaim for what they do, yet it's their efforts too that change the lives of the people who receive the blessings they give.

So I challenge you to take a moment and think of a hidden hero in your life and give them a call to tell them they are a heroe in your eyes today.  Let them know that they made a difference in your life. Who knows, your phone call may just make a difference in their life.
