Joe is the son of a mobster growing up in Brooklyn, during the Depression-era. Working for the Mafia, his father, Joseph, earns money as a rum-runner, bookie, and loan shark. He conducts his business under the cover of a laundry service, forcing his sons to go door to door picking up dirty clothes. After the death of his mother, Joe is devastated and tries to break free from his racketeering family. He moves to Long Island and jumps into politics, but finds that in many ways, it’s no different from the Mafia. Under the pressure, he struggles with alcohol and his childhood roots are hard to ignore. The story of Gemini Joe follows the life of a New York family through three generations.
