Occupy Oakland and Marcel “Khali” Johnson

Occupy Oakland remains steadfast in its inclusive invitation to come on board and get with the solution and help people in need.  For those who have lived with hardship, this movement can offer agency and focus.  Imagine what life feels like without direction.  Then imagine your life coming together.  Meet Marcel “Khali” Johnson, in this video:

Then listen to his story as reported at Occupy Oakland’s General Assembly on January 8, 2012.

Oakland Tribune reports on January 10 that prosecutors say they will not seek a third strike for Khali and the 25-to-life sentence that is associated with it, according to Teresa Drenick, speaking for Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.  Khali’s next court date is February 6 on charges of assaulting a police officer.
