This video lesson on metaphor just went up on the TED ED site (a new initiative TED is doing to provide free teaching materials in brief, animated form for anyone who wants to make use of them). It explains metaphor and simile and shows how metaphors work in three short poems, one haiku by Issa, Carl Sandburg's "Fog," and Langston Hughes's "Mother to Son."
