Jamie Asaye FitzGerald's poetry is forthcoming in the online magazine Cultural Weekly and has appeared in other publications, including Literary Mama, Hunger and Thirst (City Works Press), Speechless the Magazine and Snow Monkey, as well as on public buses. She was the recipient of an Academy of American Poets College Prize at the University of Southern California and earned an MFA in poetry from San Diego State University. Originally from Hawaii, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter, where she works for Poets & Writers. Her personal essay, "Loose Sushi," was also recently published by Discover Nikkei, as part of its Itadakimasu! project.
